Why some small businesses deserve to fail. Pt.2

A few months I posted some of my negative experiences with small, independant businesses and why they deserved to fail (in my humble opinion_. Well I had another bad experience which furthers my arguement. Yes I am venting, and my sample is biased. But it is these negative experiences that one remembers. For quite a while I have been trying to get my friends to try new restaurants beyond their favourite, usual chain/franchised selections. Anyway a small local restaurant opened up about 6 months ago just down the road - owned by a young lady and man. I tried some takeout when it forst opened and found it delicious and very reasonable priced. I had been bugging my conservative-eating friends to try it. Well finally last weekend the agreed. I called up to order our food at 7:40pm (the place closes at 9pm). The lady answered the phone and I stated that I would like ot order. She said, "sorry, I have closed the kitchen already". I reminded her that she advertises her closings in her borchure and on the door, at 9pm. She said, "well yeah but I closed it early"....silence.....I said then "ok, no problem", then she hung up. I gave her the benefit of the doubt - perhaps a family emergency, etc.
So LAST NIGHT, I convinced my friends to give it a second go, I called up around 8:10pm to place my order. She answers the phone and I ask t place my order. "Sorry, we are reeeeally busy tonight, your order might take a while". I asked her, "how long?". She stated that it would take 30-45 minutes. I said absolutely no problem, I do not mind waiting that long, it is perfectly ok. She then replies, "sorry, we might be too busy to serve you tonight". I explained to her that I was sitting with 3 friends who wanted to try her food and that they don't mind waiting but if it too much trouble don't worry about it. She replied, "ok, thanks" and hung up the phone without a goodbye. I hopped in my car and burned over to her place. Hmm...the lights were out and they were locking up.
Anyway, I left a nasty message on her answering machine stating that I was a food critic and that I would bew telling all to avoid her place.
I think I will stick to chain restaurants where the owners/managers actually know how to treat customers. This women is a waste of flesh. Se has lost my patronage and hopefully all others that I tell.

NOTICE TO SCUMBEEZLES
(you know who you are... you scream "Foul!" when the truth comes out)
PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT.  It has been done before, but never successfully.  In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace.
NEWS FLASH:  I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday.  I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish.  I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?).  I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!"
Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures.

In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact.
And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!).
