When I first switched from dedicated word processors to PCs and for many years after that, I had nothing but Acer, because my consultant sold only Acer and believed they were the best. (This was in "the olden days" when you didn't just bring the computer home and plug things in; they cost $15,000 each, and it took a technowizard to configure them.)
Anyhoo, the machines were fine... not a lemon in the bunch.
But I paid through the NOSE for years and years and YEARS because I bought Acer.
After my computer guy moved on, I found a lot of people wouldn't work on them, and when I found someone who would, it turned out they had a helluva time getting the parts, the parts were HIDEOUSLY expensive, and they weren't compatible with anything else.
Something about "proprietary" something or other.
This has nothing to do with what you asked and my Acers were great machines -- and it's quite possible things have completely changed since then -- but based on my personal experience, I wouldn't touch an Acer with a ten-foot Tootsie Roll.
Luv,
MaaMaw
