They could have made it much more convenient if they hadn't changed their web site to make it impossible to arrange for a center pickup by simply choosing an option. Even then, the package would not be available for pickup until two days later. Still, this isn't really the question I was asking.

This is irrelevant in my case, since I start work at 5 pm, and as Sandi Moses said, the delivery attempt there would likely take place before I arrived. Anyway, due to the nature of my job I can't accept packages at my workplace, before 5 or after.

I can accept paying postage, of course. But I don't think a restocking fee is acceptable if I have not even laid hands on the merchandise. And even if I were to accept a restocking fee, I am not able to stomach a 15% fee, as New Egg charges. This would be just a couple dollars under $200 in my case. This is outrageous.
In principle I agree, as a general rule, that one should not order merchandise unless they are prepared to take delivery. After the order was placed, and shipment was made I came across new information that was very unsettling. The question then became: do I just ignore this new information and go ahead with a purchase that I may very well regret, or do I back out and save myself some expensive aggravation. As I said, I was willing to eat the shipping charge. In light of all of this I don't think this is a great big moral question.
Bob, you and Pete sound a lot alike. Are you sure you and he are not the same person?
