I may or may not have posted my entaglement with the school at the begining of the year, but it revolved around the medical care of my daughter (type 1 diabetes).
One of the dozen or so battles we fought (and won) - the school (including the nurse) was telling us that we had to provide breakfast for our daughter even though there is a school breakfast program. The reason was there is a state law that states "any medication which can be administered at home must be administered at home" and she can't eat without getting insulin to cover it.
I had to do some homework while my wife was in the early stages of pre-labor but I finally had enough and stormed into the school and told them to shove the excuses and "get it right and right now or I'd be calling a disability lawyer." The federal disability laws override the state law in this case since the breakfast is available to everyone else, the school was federally required to provide accomodation to my daughter. If I hadn't been half nuts from sleep deprivation I probably wouldn't have scared the wits out of the nurse and the administrative staff, but I got the job done.
Now that the rough pregnancy is done my wife is preparing to restart homeschooling next school year.
