The Unseen Danger In All Of This

As marketers and small business people, one of our goals is to give our families a better life.

I would like to personally thank every one who has shared their experiences here with their local schools. It is more motivation to work even harder so that I can afford to send my children to private schools when they come of age.

An an exercise of my religious freedoms, I made it very clear when my older children were in school that I -- not they -- were responsible for their education and upbringing and that any authority they had was delegated to them by me. Teachers and administrators get that "deer in the headlights" look when you say that and it tends to take the wind out of their sails. On the other hand, when there was an actual issue, I wanted to talk to the teacher so that we could resolve it early. I worked to build good channels of communication and that, combined with the fact that all of their public school years were done in Department of Defense schools (where a lot of this nonsense is simply not tolerated by anybody -- could you imagine suspending the Colonel's son because he shook hands with somebody?), I never had any real problems.

It's amazing that they still allow contact sports in California schools, isn't it? Of course, insults and the like NEVER happen during athletic competitions, do they? Just ask Zidane of the French World Cup Soccer team...

Anyway, the real danger is that the people with the money won't tolerate the nonsense of public schools and will either homeschool their children or put them in a private school. That will only serve to further decimate America's middle class. Congress loves this: they can tax the upper class to death and use the money to enslave the lower class in financial assistance programs which, of course, is their ticket to re-election and a nice career in the spotlight (right, Tom Foley?).

Do as I do: Vote Contrarian. NEVER vote for an incumbent. We were never meant to have professional politicians; the idea was for a professional or businessman to go to Washington for a few years, serve and represent his or her constituents, then return to her or his private life. By always voting for the new guy and encouraging others to do the same, we can get back to that ideal and put some common sense back in our government.

And needless to say, if your local school board is elected, Vote Contrarian there, too!

And keep working on your business. We need that middle class.
