I'm not a fan of the public school system and all of the stupidity associated with it.
Last year I got into a little bit of trouble because Ben had a bit of a truancy problem.
Long story, but in a nutshell, I'm a big fan of homeschooling but because of my joint-custody situation, I can't unless my son's mom agrees to it.
Last year Ben missed half of his days while he was home with me (and actually learning something).
I can't get away with that much this year but I push things to their limit.
Last week, I got a call from the principal about an hour before school got out and was told that Ben was in her office and that he was suspended for 2 days. She told me that if I picked him up early that day that she could call it the first day, if I picked him up at the normal time, he would need to be out for 2 full days.
Needless to say, I picked him up at normal time.
Turns out that when he was in the bathroom with a bunch of other kids, he striped naked and started running around yelling "NAKED PARTY!" (yup - that's my kid)
But the funny part was, when he got in the car he had a big smile on his face and he raised up his hand and said "high-five Dad - TWO DAYS OFF!"
He's learning real quick how to work the system to his advantage.
Like father - like son.
