One bone to pick....

But before I do...

YES!! Please... like I said, I'm not the only one who wants input on this. True, this isn't an auction board, but there are bzillions of lurkeeloos who want to hear everything you have to say about selling on Ebay.

We want your "hardcore" stuff.

No need to get a feel for the board (but thank you for thinking of it). I'm passing you the brownie.

> A couple more things to think about....

The bone I mentioned:

> While you might think FedEx is cheaper, it is actually twice as much as
> Priority mail when you use the flat rate box. ($7.70) You can get the
> boxes for free and even eliminate a trip to FedEx since you can just hand
> the box to the mailman. (did I mention that time is money)

I haven't sold anything that would fit in either of the flat-rate boxes (including the magazines; they were way too thick -- and I sent those media mail because I didn't realize magazines don't qualify).

When they fit, if it costs less, I use Priority Mail and I list it that way.

Here's what I don't think most people realize (because "FedEx" always meant "PayThroughTheNose"):

FedEx Ground is WAY cheaper than the Postal Service or UPS if the item doesn't fit into a flat-rate envelope or box (for example, my driftwood exactly fills one of those big boxes that holds 10 reams of xerox paper).

That's why I started showing the comparison:

A 15-lb box (within normal package dimensions, not oversized) costs:

FedEx Ground = $13.47
UPS Ground = $18.23
Priority Mail = $27.80

That's to the Continental U.S. My husband works for FedEx and gets an employee discount, so to Alaska and Hawaii I can (and do) save people a bundle by passing his discount on to them. For the same box:

FedEx Ground = $25.94
Priority Mail = $27.80
UPS Ground = $40.43

I don't have to worry about boxes or time because my husband takes it to work with him, so from my end, it is just as easy -- easier -- than Priority Mail, and it is SAVING people money.

It is fully insured, it is fast, and it is trackable -- added advantages to the customer.

And the advantage to me is that BESIDES saving the customer money -- (like I said, I use whatever is cheapest, including Priority Mail if it fits) -- his employee discount pays my Ebay and PayPal fees in most cases (he doesn't get the same discount if going to the boondocks).

Don't misunderstand me -- I'm not offended, and I'm not trying to pick a fight.

I want every bit of advice you have to give me, and I fully understand that you're the expert and I'm just learning -- but I feel very certain that I am *SAVING* people money using FedEx Ground (if it doesn't fit in a Priority box).

I keep hearing that my shipping is out of line when, in reality, it's dirt cheap by comparison to the methods of choice -- Priority Mail and UPS.

If you can explain WHY, I would be most grateful.

Okey doodle... anything else you have to say, I'm all ears.

Luv,

MaaMaw

NOTICE TO SCUMBEEZLES
(you know who you are... you scream "Foul!" when the truth comes out)
PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT.  It has been done before, but never successfully.  In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace.
NEWS FLASH:  I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday.  I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish.  I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?).  I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!"
Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures.

By posting messages and/or content on the Friends In Business (Scams 101) Message Board, you give permission for Lesley Fountain/Friends In Business/Shoestring Success Publications to display, distribute and use the posting and content for publication, advertising, promotion, excerption or example.         In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact.
And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!).
