In Response To: Just Curious (Bluto)
Thanks for all the advice, I weigh everything, research what I have been advised, then I will make a decision on what the best way for me to market my work.
No I have not tried to sell on ebay. Like I said, I have spent the last year focusing on my mother. She is in a nursing home now. So this really is the first place I started. I came here when I was with Amerapress and found the site very helpful. Maamaw does a great job of keepiing it real and true.
As far as my work, yes, some of it is crafts and home decor because that is what the market here requires. I prefer doing the mosaics and depression plate projects because it allows me to be more creative. I no longer sell in the craft mall, I only did it for a few months, that was several years ago. Now I sell out of a very nice art gallery. I am the only stained glass artist, the rest is fine art. The galley is owned by a artist with masters in art and sits on several juries. She does classify me as a craftsperson and is one of my best clients.
I don't expect to get rich doing this. I am just one woman who loves doing different mediums of art, whether it be a $20 butterfly to a $500 mosaic to paintingi in oils, watercolor, glass or acrylics. I won a 3rd place in my first art competition. The Purple mountains work that the mayor of my town bought sold for $250. I am capable of creating art as well as crafts. I want to get my name out and do more custom work. There are so many good sites and just as many bad to market it on. it's just weeding out the bad, and that is where FIB comes in.
I appreciate every bit of info I get and weigh it carefully. I am still trying to find out about webings and SEO's, I didn't know there were so many. In my real life, I only deal with people from referrals. I am currently gutting my kitchen and moving it to the dining room so I can put a studio where the kitchen use to be. All my workmen came from other people that they have done business with. The same goes for the internet. I am looking for sucessful artist that are happy with there website or SEO. My site is a free site from Earthlink and I have to work with their templates. My goal is to find a site that is creative and reliable.
Sorry to ramble on but I am in the EARLY stages of research and will make a plan after I weigh all the info. I am a Libra and take a long time to digest the info and make a decision. Thanks to everyone. Carla
Have you ever tried selling your stuff on eBay?

| PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT. It has been done before, but never successfully. In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace.
NEWS FLASH: I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday. I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish. I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?). I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!"
Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures.

In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact.
And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!).
