Another clarification of what I mean by unscrupulous internet marketing

In Response To: I was talking abour unscrupulous marketers, not scammers, BIG difference... (Bluto)

Pretty much, I consider an unscrupulous internet marketer as the type that uses a sales letter with irrelevant information that plays on emotions in order to sell the product. Even though I don;t believe that IMC is a bad company, I do regard them as unscrupulous since they use exaggerated sales letter to market their courses, like the IM course.

To me, there really is no need to play on emotions. I know what I want, just tell me what you got.

If I am looking to buy, for instance, an internet marketing course, tel me all the subjects that are covered in the course. Give me a list of the chapter titles. Things like that. But there really is no need to tell me how my profits will SKYROCKET or how I need to buy the product today because everyday that I hold off I will be one more day poorer and things like that. There really is no need for it.

When you buy a software program from a company like, say, Macromedia, they tell you what the product does, it's features, and benefits, and so on without all the fluff and emotion playing. This is what I need. They aren't going to waste your time and tell you

"ACHEIVE TOP 3 RANKING IN GOOGLE!"

or

"WATCH YOUR PROFITS SOAR BY 317%!"

Anyone that has a brain knows that no one can really know if these things would happen as there are other factors involved that are beyond the control of the software, the software author and the sales letter writer.

I don't need to sift through a 1 million word sales letter filled with irrelevant information just to have to find the price, the features, etc.

To me, this is unscrupulous marketing and this is where I see the Canadian and Australian marketers being the most unscrupulous, not to mention that the product, then, when bought, may be found to be "not all that".

like i said, sure, these types of marketers come from all over the world but i just find that the Canadian and Australian ones tend to waste your time more with useless sales letter emotion playing and have an increased rate of actually lying about the product or making you believe that it is something it really isn't.

Not only do I tend to shy away from Canadian and Australian marketers more, I also tend to shy away from sales letters unless I already know that the product is legit and worth my while. That is when I just scroll down the page, look for the buy link and just buy it. No need to read all the BS in the sales letter. Just a waste of time and an insult to your intelligence.

I hope that clears it up a bit.

NOTICE TO SCUMBEEZLES
(you know who you are... you scream "Foul!" when the truth comes out)
PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT.  It has been done before, but never successfully.  In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace.
NEWS FLASH:  I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday.  I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish.  I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?).  I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!"
Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures.

By posting messages and/or content on the Friends In Business (Scams 101) Message Board, you give permission for Lesley Fountain/Friends In Business/Shoestring Success Publications to display, distribute and use the posting and content for publication, advertising, promotion, excerption or example.         In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact.
And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!).
