Yeah, I think you hit the nail on the head there... although I chose literature because it was the lesser of the evils. Frankly, I just didn't know what I wanted to do. I had a rather dominant and aggressive dad who made me just NOT want to be in careers like that. We get along great now that he mellowed and I did as well.
I generally don't read too much, have been told I'd be an excellent hallmark card writer (gag, true but ... gag), have written and been published in other industries but you know what? I'm not so sure I really dig writing.
Off the cuff... here are a couple little things I wrote my wife that she said I should keep.... all done on the fly and never cleaned up:
"valor's better half is caution but in love its far to vain... to lose in chance of romance, is to take that chance again... for tomorrow brings the same for all when autumn ends our years... but love endures forever, so just ignore your fears." That was an old one when we were dating.
"I dream of potions once asleep, in somnambulistic wonder. I mix them once to make sun shine, twice for rain and thunder. In my dreams I run it all and fly from place to place, but in my dreams I never could, conjure up your face. The Beauty You, both in and out, comprising all your self... is something quite beyond the range of potions on my shelf. But in my dreams I'd never dare influence you, your actions. For truth is in your own hearts freedom to gain true satisfaction." That needs work as well.
Anyway... regarding your other question, I work with my guitar for about 4 hours every day. If you'd be interested in hearing a little metal solo I did last evening, I would be happy to provide it.
