In Response To: Re: Team Forming (Wil Peterson)

Wil,

Thank you for the apology and telling us the reason for the spelling and other errors in your ad. Unfortunately, you have not filled the request for varifiable references yet. You state that your team has been in the mail order field for 22 years yet you advertised that the team is now forming. Forgive me if I missed a critical detail, but either way you should have references by now. I do not have any business references at the moment but I have close to a dozen personal references that I will be calling on while setting up my current business (photography services).

Another factor that is set against you currently is the hypersensitivity to internet scams that is abundant lately. This will lead to lesser known but valid businesses being distrusted as they get lumped in with the junk mail and spam messages. In order to really stand out you must put your best presence out front the first time since most people will not give you more than a few seconds of exposure time, if even that.

If you truly wish to get some positive attention from groups such as the people at this forum you should take the time to build a robust website that fits within your rules in your original post while answering as many possible questions within your copy as possible. If the design is clean, the information is clear and concise, and you have the references to back your claims then you should have no problems growing your team by leaps and bounds.

As far as other forums attacking you... well, I can't speak for the other forums directly but I do know that it is common to have a "NO ADS" rule just like this forum has. Your post was in direct violation of that rule. The fact that the board owner (MaaMaw) didn't nuke your post altogether should give you some consolation.

I have only fallen for a few traps in my day, and it was the most recent one that lead me to this board. I fell for the "Free month of Blockbuster Online" through Great Fun and it went on for a few months before my wife and I figured out what that monthly charge hitting the bank was. I am also guilty of joining one MLM, though the structure it had when I joined did not resemble the typical pyramid scam setup of a MLM. I found out after about three months that besides the magazine subscriptions they really didn't have any good products that I couldn't get cheaper and better down the street, and it was about that time they changed their structure to resemble the typical pyramid... and I jumped out quick. My father-in-law got into the "It's not Amway" websales scam and he tried hard to recruit me, even going so far as to get his very rich sponsor to call me to dazzle me with his success and offer me some free training material to start off. I asked a few damning questions that the guy would not or could not answer and when he started trying to change the subject I thanked him for his time and hung up. When I explained why I turned down the offer to my father-in-law he must have asked some of the same questions because he was out of it within a month. My wife got pulled into Herbalife for a while and we actually used the products but she couldn't get any customers and we eventually dropped it. Then she went for Mary Kay... oh boy was that a disaster. It was the single most expensive scam that we fell into. Not that Mary Kay products aren't good, it's just that some of the people higher in the chain have found out that you can recruit tons of downline while selling on ebay at below what a new person would pay for wholesale and make bank on the volume sales comps (like diamonds and cars) and upline benefits. By breaking the rules with the ebay sales, those higher ups are insuring that they get the majority of the sales and they never had to leave the house.

Why do I tell you this? Think of it as validation of my opinion through example. While I could not easily verify that these events are true, the details and energy put into the telling of the events are more persuasive than just saying "been there, done that, and this, and that."

Why am I explaining everything to you? In the hope that if you are as legit as you claim that you will fill in all the details. While I don't have the money to spare at the present, there may be others with the spare money who are curious.

NOTICE TO SCUMBEEZLES
(you know who you are... you scream "Foul!" when the truth comes out)
PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT.  It has been done before, but never successfully.  In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace.
NEWS FLASH:  I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday.  I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish.  I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?).  I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!"
Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures.

Although we may, from time to time, monitor or review discussions, postings and the like on the Friends In Business (Scams 101) Message Board, we are under no obligation to do so.  We are not responsible or liable for any claim arising from the content of any such discussions or postings or for any error, defamation, libel, slander, omission, falsehood, obscenity, pornography, profanity, danger, or inaccuracy contained in any information contained within such locations on the Site.
You are prohibited from posting or transmitting any unlawful, threatening, libelous, defamatory, obscene, scandalous, inflammatory, pornographic, or profane materials or any material that could constitute or encourage conduct that would be considered a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability, or otherwise violate any law.  You are likewise prohibited from posting any false claims against any company or individual.  We will fully cooperate with any law enforcement authorities or court order requesting or directing us to disclose the identity of anyone posting any such information or materials.
By posting messages and/or content on the Friends In Business (Scams 101) Message Board, you give permission for Lesley Fountain/Friends In Business/Shoestring Success Publications to display, distribute and use the posting and content for publication, advertising, promotion, excerption or example. You grant Lesley Fountain/Friends In Business/Shoestring Success Publications complete, perpetual, but non-exclusive rights to use, archive, reproduce, adapt, modify, distribute, sub-license, repurpose, rework, compile, or offer for sale or resale the messages, postings or content appearing on this site in whole or in part, throughout the world and universe, on a royalty-free basis without remuneration.  If you cannot accept or agree with the terms of service for this website and discussion board, you are advised not to post on this board.
In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact.
And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!).
