I do not understand the obvious hatred for Whatz'iz'name.
No offense intended, Bluto, but several people say you are not who you say you are. I don't particularly care. Maybe I'm wrong, but unless someone causes real trouble, I don't try to hunt them down and expose their "true identity." Lots of people on this board use first names, middle names, or aliases and we don't pay any attention (at least I don't).
I did think the post about Jim's directory was somewhat offensive (not "a**hole" offensive, but offensive enough to get a reply). What wasn't clear was that Bluto was talking to people who want exposure TODAY, which makes it less offensive IMHO.
I'm not saying he doesn't give less-than-perfect information sometimes, but so do I. I don't do it on purpose... I just screw up occasionally, as most people do.
What I don't understand is why nobody seems to appreciate any of the good advice he gives. It makes no sense to me. One example would be the thread on how a hairdresser can increase her clientele; you may not think his ideas are the best thing since God invented Milky Ways, but doesn't anybody notice the time and energy that go into some of his replies?
Yes, he can be abrasive and rude -- and I have no doubt that he knows when he's being rude because his command of the English language is way too good not to know -- but when he is, his post gets nuked just like every snotty post.
His hatred for "academics" is obvious but it's one that I have often shared. I just happen to love Mel, because she's the nicest, smartest, most un-obnoxious "academic" I have ever known. I hate that Bluto and Mel lock horns so much, but Mel can take care of herself, and if I were forced to make a choice (which I hope I'm not), I would choose Mel (well duh). Now there's Jimbo (heavy sigh), but truthfully, he hasn't ever given me any reason to hold his degrees against him either.
Okay, that was a ramble...
I just started out to say, "I DON'T GET IT!!"
I guess this is going to be one of the most unpooopular posts I ever posted. Go ahead... fling the brownies!!
