Sandi I only know what she told me. Perhaps she did go to Urgent Care. If she did, then she probably didn't know the difference, and nor do I. "Emergency" is not as serious as "Urgent"? Go figure.
I haven't seen this woman in quite awhile. At the time, she had some serious health issues that kept her awake -- not only because she worried about them, but because she was physically suffering. I am speaking of health problems that cannot be addressed in an emergency room.
What does such a person do, besides suffer in silence? Perhaps she can now qualify for Medicaid, although I don't really know much about that.
Oh, about Emergency room care, I do have some personal experience about that. I was working the late shift at my place of employment and slipped on any icy ramp outside the building. The fall resulted in multiple breaks of my right wrist, pushing my hand back at an odd angle. A fellow employee drove me to the ER and waited with me. We waited a long time. When I finally worked my way to the front the nurse expressed amazement I hadn't been screaming for attention earlier. Still, this didn't keep me from having to wait all night until an intern showed up to reset my wrist. There I sat looking at my grotesque injury, for hours. But I did eventually get treatment, and it was covered by workmans comp. At the time it occurred to me that I might have won a lawsuit because of the icy ramp, but that's not how I like to operate.
