1. There is a lot more competition in the webmaster/marketing spheres than in other spheres.
2. With products that are available lots of places, people know that if they look around they can always find a better deal somewhere else if they keep looking.
3. How many of those products really add value?
With due respect to those products, some may not be so good. There is too much stuff in there to be useful to one person. For example, for the average person building 1 web site, they don't need hundreds of PSD templates (they may not even have Photoshop) - they need 1 good suitable template for their site with clear instructions.
4. MOST IMPORTANTLY: How many solve a person's real problem? Maybe some do, but none as they are presented. The presentation is just back to front.
If I have a problem, if I want a web site with feature X, I'd start looking for scripts/programs to do feature X.
I don't go looking thru packages with huge mounds of unrelated stuff on the off-chance that it may include an item to solve feature X. Even if I did (which I don't and I think few people do), then I may not even realize your package addresses feature X.
Instead, I look for packages which are designed to solve feature X, and explain they are about solving feature X, and explain how they solve feature X.
So, whether selling your own stuff, or looking for affiliate products. That's what you want to look for. Does it solve somebody's problem or fufill their need? This applies both to marketing/money-making/webmaster products, and other products that normal people buy, too.
...But the huge pile of vaguely related stuff thrown together in the kitchen-sink approach, rarely works, IMHO.
