1. Their domain name sucks. I have looked at their site 3 times now, and
> each time can't remember whether it's bigdaddy.com bigdaddysearch.com
> searchbigdaddy.com
Troy Warren President Reply: What's in a name? LOTS for sure. BigDaddy.Com is Big Men's clothing and GoDaddy.Com registers domains. We were NOT and NEVER were trying to steal GoDaddy's thunder and recognition. They are NOT in the search game. Enough said here.
And they're also working off the name recognition of the registrar, Godaddy.com. It's close enough that it "triggers" a "Oh yes. I've heard of them" response in a lot of people.
In addition, they're using a name that Google is also using. This, IMHO, is just plain stupid: http://blog.searchenginewatch.com/blog/060202-112230

Troy Warren President Reply: When we were first programming our engine over 15 months ago, we used that script for testing. We have long since graduated to industrial strength proprietary software that is patent pending.
This is SO true! What it means is that they will have trouble if they grow beyond a certain size.
Troy Warren President Reply: We can currently take 100 times more searching than what is occurring. We are set for the long haul with a great network and several seasoned PhD's in computer science that SPEACIALIZE in search and networking. Makes me wonder when the last time you performed a search at SearchBigDaddy.Com?
> 3. And by the way the fact they are using an off-the-shelf script, means
> they have no real technical advantage as compared to any other search
> engine.
Troy Warren President Reply: Answered above.
In fact, they have a distinct disadvantage. Folks use Google over many other search engines because you tend to get back good results (and spam and offtopic sites get filtered out.) To run the complex searches and algorithmns, Google and MSN and Yahoo have huge banks of computers and a lot of coders on staff.
Troy Warren President Reply: Most people have long forgotten the early days of GOOGLE starting in a garage. Problems were aplenty every day. Their network was UP and then it was DOWN. I experienced them from the very first days. And if you had too, yes you would be critical of them as well.
Google's Bigdaddy will run at ... http://www.google.com. So it's not going to pick up or get anything from searchbigdaddy.com.
> 5. I tried a search yesterday and got some of their results and some

> except a maintenance page.
Troy Warren President Reply: YES indeed we have been upgrading over the last two weeks constantly. We are in touch with our Affiliates almost on a daily basis with the TRUTH. No more maintenance pages NOW, as we are done migrating to the new search platform. The search is as FAST as GOOGLE or Yahoo. Of course you may NOT know this, but all of the TOP search engines STILL to this day pull results from the world's largest OPEN DIRECTORY dmoz.org AND they
can manipulate those listings.
I got that this morning. I did get to their "keywords" page, and discovered it was full of single sites and 404 pages.
Then I discovered that the company may be a one man operation.
Troy Warren President Reply: If I was the ONLY one here, than it would have long ago been crushed. We have over 10 employees and very shortly that number is growing to over 30. If anyone were close enough to the company they would know that, but facts get scattered and thrown about to the point where they are not even close to the mark.
Alexa ranking can be boosted by a number of cheats, so I don't know that I'd take the numbers very seriously. They also don't own their own nameservers or webserver... meaning that the efficiency of any search is going to be limited by the number of people searching there.
Troy Warren President Reply: Are you suggesting that we know how to cheat the ALEXA toolbar? Sounds like you claim to know how to do that. And if so, do you have any Web sites that rank in the top 2000 of ALEXA consistently?
> 10. All those $50 free ad blocks will have to get used up before they can
> start earning real money from advertising. I wonder how long that will
> take given that few people would actually want to use their search (point
> 2 and 4 for example) in real work.
Troy Warren President Reply: Many Affiliates are already making THOUSANDS here, so there is some misunderstanding you have about our program. No one has to WAIT as you suggest for the $50 in PPC currency to be used up.
More than that, who searches PPC products only? This has all the business model sense of the old FFA ad sites (free for all ad sites, where you could put up an ad free.) We've seen this business model before (paying people to search for you) and it usually flops within 6 months.
Troy Warren President Reply: We have already done a soft launch of our BLOG community BlogLanding.Com. We will be giving 10's of thousands of BLOGS away in addition to Call Center activity bringing Brick and Mortar businesses into our search engine by the thousands. Most of what I see here is speculation on the part of others. Which is dangerous potentially guiding people on hunches that turn out to be a hoax.
> 11. I doubt they have enough money to spend on advertising $ to establish
> themselves in the public's conscience.
Troy Warren President Reply: Another statement that is so far from the truth. Hundred's of thousands of dollars have gone into this development project. Again it just confirms that these forums can get on run away trains.
Agreed... and there is that little issue of swiping Google's name.
I think it's going to be a great little moneymaker for the owner for about 6 months and won't do much for anyone else.
Troy Warren President Reply: We have had advertiser after advertiser tell us how much traffic they have received and making more sales than ever before. I am not here to try and convince you. Rather you would have a better thread here IF you included the EARLY days of Yahoo, GOOGLE, AOL, and MSN. In fact, last week Yahoo was offline for almost two hours. Imagine that, a multi-billion dollar giant UNREACHABLE for almost two hours. I have NEVER stated we would ever be the next GOOGLE. I am CLEAR that I tell people that I cannot tell them that, because I don't know whether it is true or not. However, I know that even if Search Big Daddy were in the TOP 50 search engines in the world, and you were an advertiser, I would find it hard to believe you would be upset with that prospect. Search Big Daddy offers an opportunity to GET IN and claim keywords and positions BEFORE the rest of the cattle herd comes. And they are coming. Many were upset that they did not take GOOGLE seriously when they were young. Most don't even know what the name GOOGLE means and where it came from. I do BECAUSE our team does our homework thoroughly BEFORE stepping out.

PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT. It has been done before, but never successfully. In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace. NEWS FLASH: I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday. I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish. I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?). I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!" Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures. Although we may, from time to time, monitor or review discussions, postings and the like on the Friends In Business (Scams 101) Message Board, we are under no obligation to do so. We are not responsible or liable for any claim arising from the content of any such discussions or postings or for any error, defamation, libel, slander, omission, falsehood, obscenity, pornography, profanity, danger, or inaccuracy contained in any information contained within such locations on the Site. You are prohibited from posting or transmitting any unlawful, threatening, libelous, defamatory, obscene, scandalous, inflammatory, pornographic, or profane materials or any material that could constitute or encourage conduct that would be considered a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability, or otherwise violate any law. You are likewise prohibited from posting any false claims against any company or individual. We will fully cooperate with any law enforcement authorities or court order requesting or directing us to disclose the identity of anyone posting any such information or materials. By posting messages and/or content on the Friends In Business (Scams 101) Message Board, you give permission for Lesley Fountain/Friends In Business/Shoestring Success Publications to display, distribute and use the posting and content for publication, advertising, promotion, excerption or example. If you cannot accept or agree with the terms of service for this website and discussion board, you are advised not to post on this board. In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact. And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!). |
