In Response To: Re: try this for local mailings (Royce Schmidt)

I would suggest a phone call prior to the your mailing (or better yet a post card) and let them know that your material will be the one in the "Pink" ( or wichever color you choose) envelope, and then follow up a few days later with another phone call to tackle anyobjections that they may have.
It doesn't take many accounts to get busy. Word of mouth takes off from there.
If you were to get five accounts with your initial mailing it may not take long for you to become very busy.
The lady I helped at my Job, was working average 20 hours per week after the mailing alone (keep in mind that she turned away work) She and her husband, 1 year later, now both work an average of 20 hours per week and turning away even more work from refferals.
You see people ( managers) tend to go from one company to another and if you provide a quality service at a fair price, the are going to take you with them.

Not certain on this, Dennis Bevers may be a better person to respond to this but....
I think that if you were to put a pen or something BULKY into a regular mailing and it broke the Post offices several hundered thousand dallar pre-sort machines, You would get the bill!

You can send most anything bulky you choose as long as you don't try to send it by regular first class mail.

One thing better Why not order something from Dennis and Hand deliver it when you introduce your business.

Just going on now but in the past I ran a restroom cleaning service and I got more than 1 long time client by offering my service for Free for one week.
I introduced my self and my company
"Johnny B Clean"
Then offered them my free service.
Most let me. Of the ones that did let me perform my "free" service (takes 15 minutes) I signed aprox. 2 out of 5 to a weekly $20 bill for 15 minutes of labor.

I quit the service as I soon came to the conclusion that it would be difficult to retain employees to clean toilets and urinals.

To start this business I took the saying " find something that nobody wats to do and do it for a fee" literally! It works until you want to hire someone else to do it for you.
Best wishes and much success,
Jason

NOTICE TO SCUMBEEZLES
(you know who you are... you scream "Foul!" when the truth comes out)
PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT.  It has been done before, but never successfully.  In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace.
NEWS FLASH:  I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday.  I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish.  I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?).  I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!"
Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures.

In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact.
And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!).
