Brand name and private label gasoline & BP/Amoco INCREASES milage for me!!!

In Response To: Stupid question... (MaaMaw)

There is in fact such a thing as private label gasoline.

If you go to a gas station that does not sell private label gas, by law they must have the brand they sell displayed somewhere. Look around the pump, the price sign and around the actual store front. It's there somewhere.

As for private label gas, if it is private label there will be no brand logo anywhere. We have 4 regional convenience store chains around my area. 2 of them sell private label gas. The other 2 sell BP/Amoco and the other sells Mobil.

HOWEVER, I have no idea if this private label gas comes from Mobil or Exxon anyway as I have no idea about the actual workings of the gas trade. I only know of the private label stuff because I wok for a company that does business with convenience stores and I frequent the headquarters of these stores. One of the ones I mentioned that is private label used to sell Citgo gas up until about 10 months ago, then they went private label. In doing so they had to remove all Citgo signage everywhere at every store and they cannot even sell Citgo motor oil in the store as a result of it. They said that the reason they went private label was because they actually make more money with private label gas, so they decided to switch.

Well, that's all I know.

BTW, while I am on the subject of gas, I'd like to tell everyone something. For the past 5 gas ups for my car I have been using BP/Amoco gas. As a result, I have been getting an extra 30 miles per TANK of gas. I usually get about 420 miles per TANK of gas and with BP/Amoco I have been getting about 450 miles per tank. Just thought you might want to know that. Some BP/Amoco stations seem to charge about 5 to 10 cents more per gallon but some remain competitive. I only buy fro those that have competitive pricing, of course, but I will pay as high as 5 cents more per gallon to get an extra 30 miles per tank. So you might want to buy some BP/Amoco gas next time and kep close tabs to see if you get more milage for your dollar. I know I am. BTW, I only buy regular and I only buy 93+ octane once in a while just for the hell of it like once every 2 or 3 months (but I NEVER get any more milage from high grade gas so I usually just buy the regular low octane).

NOTICE TO SCUMBEEZLES
(you know who you are... you scream "Foul!" when the truth comes out)
PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT.  It has been done before, but never successfully.  In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace.
NEWS FLASH:  I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday.  I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish.  I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?).  I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!"
Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures.

In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact.
And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!).
