a link in (say) a footer for the forum is that the same link goes on each and every page which is spidered by the search engines. Further, the www.friendsinbusiness.com/board1 homepage is PR5 - and, in some places, purchasing links from a PR5 page can cost quite a bit of money.
So, IF 10 links are available sidewide on the FIB forum, Lesley could perhaps get $15 - 30/month per text link (or more!) - and that's quite a nice chunk of change for her.
... note of caution; as with everything in this life, the search engines might be planning a downside for those purchasing links by discounting any PR they might otherwise have gathered from the FIB page. There is still a benefit in purchasing such a link because there will be natural traffic to the links in the course of a year from the many people who visit here quietly and who never post any messages to let us know they exist.
My feeling is that a steady monthly income which covers some monthly living expense is worth adding to the pot!
