AAACCCKKK!!!... Since everybody misunderstood me, I obviously did not make myself clear...

In Response To: i don't see it as that simple... (renee)

I did not mean to imply that I think StormPay is innocent.  When I made my first post, I knew nothing about StormPay; now I know a bit, and they're not sounding terribly innocent.

But that is neither here nor there as far as my initial post is concerned.

What I was saying about the WannaBelieve Syndrome is simply that on the autosurf boards (at least a few days ago when all of this started), many people (TONS of people) are blaming StormPay 100%.  In their minds, the autosurf companies that were paying them are COMPLETELY legitimate... NO question about it... the ONLY evil-doer in all of this is StormPay, and they're waiting for their favorite autosurf companies to find another payment processor (a good one this time, unlike StormPay who caused all these problems) so they can carry on like nothing is wrong... nothing at all.

The fact that the Autosurf companies themselves are being investigated goes completely over their heads because they don't want to believe it.

That was my only point.

> in my opinion, something of a solid model of ad unit delivery will evolve
> from this autosurf thing--so long as it is significantly based upon solid
> advertising & marketing principals.

I don't, because I don't see how it can be a good thing for advertisers to have their ads viewed by people who are doing it only to get paid.  That shoots the whole concept of "Target Market" right out the window.

It also shoots the whole concept of "Warm Bodies" right out the window when you consider that many (most?) people autosurf "in the background" and they never lay eyes on the ad.

I suppose things could someday shift so that disinterested people buy the advertisers' products (I don't think it will, but I suppose anything is possible)... but it sure won't shift enough so people buy the stuff without even seeing the ads.

Anyhoo, I digress too (my specialty).

All I really wanted to say was that my original post had nothing to do with StormPay but with the blindness of those who don't want to see.

Luv,

MaaMaw

NOTICE TO SCUMBEEZLES
(you know who you are... you scream "Foul!" when the truth comes out)
PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT.  It has been done before, but never successfully.  In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace.
NEWS FLASH:  I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday.  I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish.  I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?).  I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!"
Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures.

In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact.
And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!).
