Michale,
I will probably get the first book. Here is some info on Vincent James I found while doing a Google search.

You should know that the web site you're looking at isn't run by Vincent James. Or, if it is, he's directly violating a court order.
He shut down the 12-month-millionaire web site because he's not allowed to run any sort of business, or act as a consultant, under the terms of his probation.
You can read the terms of his probation here:
www.cp-receivership.com/PDF/Sentencing%20Hearing%20Transcript.pdf
And you can read the recent court hearing in which the judge rules that he's not allowed to sell the 12-month-millionaire book (or any other book) here:
www.courtminutes.maricopa.gov/docs/Criminal/112005/m2017442.pdf
12MM is a fun read for the first few chapters, but it's utter fantasy to believe that the business model he describes will work.
VJ has never succeeded in the business he describes (remember, VJ's $100 MM business ended with him losing all the money and going to jail). Neither does he give any examples in the book of people who successfully built businesses using the model he describes.
(He names some successful promotions, but those promotions were built by infomercial, not by the direct mail methods VJ teaches.)
The "how to create a product" section that some people rave about is half a page that states the obvious.
His idea of automatically putting customers on monthly shipment until they cancel isn't new. Stamp dealers were putting kids on auto-ship when I was a kid 40 years ago.
Whole sections are cut-and-paste filler. In order to fill up enough pages to make a book, he's got page after page of definitions of things you already know.
He's got a whole chapter that tells you what "lifetime customer value" is. If you don't already know, Google it and save yourself the price of this book.
Chapter 20 is a list of headlines cut and paste out of other sources. Utter filler.
Bottom line, the book is a fun read for the first 37 pages (that's how long it takes him to tell the story of his Longitude scam). After that, it's a waste.

PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT. It has been done before, but never successfully. In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace. NEWS FLASH: I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday. I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish. I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?). I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!" Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures. Although we may, from time to time, monitor or review discussions, postings and the like on the Friends In Business (Scams 101) Message Board, we are under no obligation to do so. You are likewise prohibited from posting any false claims against any company or individual. We will fully cooperate with any law enforcement authorities or court order requesting or directing us to disclose the identity of anyone posting any such information or materials. If you cannot accept or agree with the terms of service for this website and discussion board, you are advised not to post on this board. In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact. And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!). |
