Surely you didn't think that I thought you talked to just some random manager at Godaddy? I know you spoke to someone you know. Not only did you previously state that but we all know you know folks at GD by now. You have told us and illustrated that to us many-a-time.
But tell me. No matter how good of a friend this person is to you, do you honestly think that they would tell you confidential company information? I mean, let's say Godaddy was watching domain searches on their site in order to snag some of the best domains from their searching customers. I don't know if you realize this, but that would be a big deal. A VERY BIG DEAL. No company would want that info to leak out of the upper ranks of the company, let alone outside the company. It would be seen as very unethical, if not criminal, in the domain industry and they'd risk losing their ICANN accreditation(sp?). As much as they may love you over there at GD, Roadie, I doubt they love you THAT much.
And do you really think that, no matter how loved you are by your friendly GD manager, that said manager would risk losing his job just to tell good ole Roadie a deeply guarded company secret - just because you asked? If you do, you need to deflate that ego of yours. What a stupid way to lose one's job and one's integrity in the eyes of future employers.
What some of you don't seem to realize is that the domain market is really, REALLY large and domains can be worth quite a lot of money, even undeveloped. If GD was engaging in the practices mentioned in this thread, believe me, you would not be in on that secret, Roadie. In fact, you'd probably be the last person they'd tell as they know you are a morally and ethically motivated person. Godaddy is losing a lot of business these days due to the way it runs it's business. If you frequent the largest domain and webmaster forums, you'd know that. The last thing they need is someone like you who hangs out on forums to go and tell everyone their deep, dark company secrets.
I told all of you the low-down on this situation. As I said, the story is in the full WHOIS info. You can choose to believe it and get on with the harsh reality of the situation or you can continue to try to unravel a mystery or crime that isn't really there. The choice is yours.
Now, we'll just wait to see if the current owner of the domain finds it worth his while to chime in here. Who knows, maybe he'll feel bad for Jim and just hand over the domain for the reg fee or even for free. But I wouldn't hold my breath.

PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT. It has been done before, but never successfully. In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace. NEWS FLASH: I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday. I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish. I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?). I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!" Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures. Although we may, from time to time, monitor or review discussions, postings and the like on the Friends In Business (Scams 101) Message Board, we are under no obligation to do so. You are likewise prohibited from posting any false claims against any company or individual. If you cannot accept or agree with the terms of service for this website and discussion board, you are advised not to post on this board. In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact. And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!). |
