I agree that it's time to start swinging hard to fix the situation. Start by contacting a lawyer. Let him/her know that you can't afford to pay but the company you are going against is big, the bloodthirsty type of lawyer (or the do-gooder type too) will accept a percentage of your winnings as payment instead of a set amount. If the conditions are anywhere near where you say they are then all you have to do is prove it, start by having your lawyer be the one to contact the DOT for an audit. Digital cameras and written statements from co-workers go a long way here as well. The pictures will not be admissiable in court but it will serve as evidence of butt covering "band-aid" techniques if your suite becomes known to your bosses. Also, being fired for refusing to work in a known unsafe environment is a Federal Offense - so stand up to your boss (after you get your evidence to the lawyer).
