I have used similar programs - in fact, four different ones. In every case, the sites I used them on were completely de-listed from Google.
BUT, I think allot has to do with how you use them. For example, I used the templates that came with the programs (BIG mistake).
Then, I made my own templates, but I was creating hundreds of pages per day (ANOTHER big mistake!).
These tools are not the problem, but more HOW they are being used.
You are making your own templates, which is great. Just keep your uploading at a reasonable rate (I heard different numbers, but I never put up more than 25 at a time).
Duplicate content . . . another area which you will get varying opinions. In my (feeble) mind, one of the reason for article directories is to distribute articles, provided the resource info is unchanged. So if you can't edit - it's duplicate. I have heard Google my factor that into their algo's, but it shouldn't get you banned.
If you buy private label articles that aren't written JUST for you, then add a paragraph at the beginning of each article and then it will be unique.
Like any tool - used correctly and it will be useful. Abuse it and it will do more harm than good.
