In Response To: I'm not sure it's changed direction that much.... (MaaMaw)

>> When I was a consultant 25 years ago, there was *TREMENDOUS* pressure to put every penny I made back into inventory. I just ignored it. <<

There's even more now, if that's possible!!!

The mother of all inventory orders used to be $3,600 wholesale ($7,200 retail). When you got that much, they told you that you were working at "profit level", meaning that you didn't have to put any money toward getting MORE inventory, and all profits could go right into your family budget. Well that's not exactly true, as your profits really need to go toward paying down the debt on that $3,600 order, which actually ends up to be about $4,500 (after taxes, supplies, etc.) plus credit card interest.

Now the *new* cool order is $4,800 wholesale ($9,600 retail). Gulp!!! Everyone's been trying to figure out why the company is now pushing this bigger amount. Here's my theory:

The magic number for sales directors is $4,000 wholesale each month. That's the number that helps them keep their level and keep the lowest car. That's roughly one profit level ($3,600) new consultant per month.

But most women are not risk-takers, by nature. So my theory is that if you give them a range of choices, they will not take the most risky-sounding option. Wholesale inventory packages were $600, $1200, $1800, $2400, and $3600. You can really order ANY amount, not just those set amounts, but recruiters push the packages.

Looking at that range, I do not believe that women are likely to do the $3600 because it looks to risky, being at the upper end of the range. But if you add on a new super-mega-fabulous inventory level of $4800 wholesale, now the $3600 doesn't look so intimidating. See my logic?

>> I was made to feel stupid because I turned out to be no good at selling. <<

Didn't you know that the product just "flies right off the shelf" and you just weren't trying hard enough??? (Er, let's see, flying right off the shelf implies no effor needed, so what's with this "trying" stuff?)

>> I most *certainly* was made to feel like a quitter when I... well, QUIT! <<

Hasn't changed!

>> And the one time I went to a monthly meeting...<<

That's only gotten worse. These sales directors brag about being these big executives, and their units are full of "business owners". Yet the meetings are full of stupid chanting, waving pom poms, singing songs, wearing tiaras, dressing up in costumes, and other childish behavior. They even refer to the sales directors as the "big girls" and ask the lowly consultants if they would like to move up so they can "play with the big girls".

NOTICE TO SCUMBEEZLES
(you know who you are... you scream "Foul!" when the truth comes out)
PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT.  It has been done before, but never successfully.  In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace.
NEWS FLASH:  I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday.  I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish.  I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?).  I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!"
Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures.

Although we may, from time to time, monitor or review discussions, postings and the like on the Friends In Business (Scams 101) Message Board, we are under no obligation to do so.  We are not responsible or liable for any claim arising from the content of any such discussions or postings or for any error, defamation, libel, slander, omission, falsehood, obscenity, pornography, profanity, danger, or inaccuracy contained in any information contained within such locations on the Site.

In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact.
And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!).
