I won't be posting the phone number, but Brandon Whittington of Winston-Salem, NC says he's sorry for posting the MMF (Make Money Fast) "send a dollar to each of these six names" scam yesterday. The doo-doo was cleaned up by the moderators so most folks didn't see it, I guess. But when they post a name and a physical address, more than half the time, www.anywho.com can come up with a phone number.
In contrast to my normal stereotype of an MMFool as a junior high kid posting before his parents get home from work, Brandon is a recent high school graduate who absolutely believed that the letter wouldn't lie about it being legal. If it says the postal service would confirm it was legal, well then, you didn't have to actually *call* the postal service to confirm it.
He and his Mom now know more about on-line scams and how to put a Road Runner cable account in jeopardy.
That he failed to actually send his six dollars off to the participants in the chain letter, and just jumped on the end of the train trying to get away with not paying, is just icing on the cake. I gave him my usual advice to return unopened any mail he got that looked like it might contain cash, as it might be a sting by the postal inspectors to nab him as a con artist. I haven't heard of them doing that for five years, but they used to, and it's useful to put the fear of the authorities into gullible ones like this.

I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?). I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!" Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures.
