In Response To: Re: Consumer Warning! (Sandi Moses)

Heh, heh Sandi,

I asked them when I called to close the account and the manager I waited some 20 minutes to talk to said "We did this to protect our interest."

Now by this did he mean financially as far as how much of a percentage they were charging me or something else?

In any case I am still going to write letters to some entities that may or may not be able to assist in making sure these guys are placed under a microscope. Little does Chase know that I happened to have helped a local Congressman to get elected. And he does indeed remember me. He stated openly "If there is ever anything I can do....."

Needless to say one of my letters will go to him.

I am not expecting miracles by the way. But if I write enough letters to enough powerful entities perhaps, just maybe, Delaware might be forced to change the way they allow Chase and others to do business. And in addition by getting the words of warning out perhaps others might be prevented from doing business with this type of credit card company that uses stealth tactics to maximize their profits.

Here is my attack plan....

1. Send letter with all facts to local Congressman.

2. Send same letter in CC to local action reporter from news station that I deal with when I do PR for the fire department. (Let lots of people know to prevent others from signing up with Chase)

3. Send letters detailing whole situation to consumer credit protection agencies locally, statewide, and nationally.

4. Send letters in CC to representatives in Delaware.

This might sound like a lot of work but all I will have to do is write one detailed letter and then simply readdress it a few times. It will cost me less than $5 and I will, at the very least, let Chase know that I did not just roll over and take it where sunshine doesn't often hit me.

Like I said I am not expecting results so I am not really going to be disappointed. My goals are really simple...

To prevent others from making the mistake of dealing with such credit card entities.

To at least follow-through enough so as to have tried to stop this kind of scam from being perpetrated on innocent consumers.

To attempt to at least get some sort of investigation going via the news on such credit card scams. (might go national???)

But at least I will know that I am passing along some important info to people out there who might otherwise fall victim to Chase.

NOTICE TO SCUMBEEZLES
(you know who you are... you scream "Foul!" when the truth comes out)
PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT.  It has been done before, but never successfully.  In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace.
NEWS FLASH:  I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday.  I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish.  I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?).  I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!"
Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures.

In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact.
And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!).
