Does this Ring a Bell?
Please read and respond in kind ... thanking you in advance. I was answering a post posted by Trying, Too -- in response to my thread about AWAI.
When I decided ... let's makes this a new thread, to see if others are in a similar conundrum, similar puzzle as I am ... so here goes . . .
- - - -
Yeah ... part of my dilemma, is trying to figure out what do "next?"
MM's and others talk about learning Internet Marketing, such as Corey Rudl's course. While simultaneously thinking about product or service to sell. Makes sense, since whatever one is to do, one has to get the word out!
That said, part of my dilemma, what really resonates with me, is good, old USP ... what will differentiate me enough? So others will buy. Assumes traffic came from either various lists, online searches, et cetera.
Many here and other forums say to do what you're "expert" in or have "passion" for. Well ... frankly, though I have some skills, I'm not an expert in anything. My passion ... suffice it to say I have one, but am not "expert" enough in it, to cause others to "come by and buy."
BTW, I'm not being self-effacing ... so no need to offer encouragement by saying, "Everyone has something they're good at." I'm decent at a number of things, but hardly "expert" enough to stand out, to differentiate myself from . . .
Hence my dilemma ... I believe by following a marketing guide, such as Rudl's would help in the IM department. No matter what you do, you have to market, get traffic -- perhaps Corey's marketing course can solve the marketing piece.
Therefore, the marketing side is not my conundrum ... it's that pesky product or service.
Hence, my dilemma ... what to sell? The pesky, nagging, product or service offering. Yeah ... MM and others do the affiliate thing, clicks, and the like. Moreover, that model is replicate-able, I'm sure Corey covers it. Call it back-end, front-end, middle-mid, "oh, by the way," selling -- choose a tag you like. These are not total answers. To me, they are byproducts of the primary product, or service offering that hopefully drew the visitor to the site.
What I want to know ... is those of you who are not expert in anything. And your passion ... is really not marketable. Or, even though you have your passion, hobby, whatever. You enjoy it ... but are not expert at it.
Then what do you sell? What is/becomes your -- the -- product of service?
If you're not expert in the field, or at least damn knowledgeable. Then where is the USP? How can average people differentiate, distinguish, separate themselves enough to gain an audience, when not expert or real knowledgeable?
Guess, part of my dilemma, is the oft talk about "me too" thing. Where you become one of many. I'm not interested in selling "Become a Internet Millionaire!" by doing this or that. Usually the this or that, is selling the "concept" to the next gal/guy, who then sells it the next guy/gal and so forth.
I've gone full circle in this post, so-to-speak. Hope others understand the puzzle I'm in. Will appreciate any and all replies. From those who found their niche.
To those who are wondering, like me, if you don't have one, what to do?

PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT. It has been done before, but never successfully. In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace. NEWS FLASH: I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday. I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish. I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?). I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!" Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures. Although we may, from time to time, monitor or review discussions, postings and the like on the Friends In Business (Scams 101) Message Board, we are under no obligation to do so. We are not responsible or liable for any claim arising from the content of any such discussions or postings or for any error, defamation, libel, slander, omission, falsehood, obscenity, pornography, profanity, danger, or inaccuracy contained in any information contained within such locations on the Site. You are likewise prohibited from posting any false claims against any company or individual. We will fully cooperate with any law enforcement authorities or court order requesting or directing us to disclose the identity of anyone posting any such information or materials. If you cannot accept or agree with the terms of service for this website and discussion board, you are advised not to post on this board. In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact. And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!). |
