I too get threatened quite a bit from some of the stuff on my board. In one case they went so far as to send me threatening papers in the mail. I hired an attorney who basically sent them a "nice" letter telling them how thin the ice was that they were standing on, and they went away. Basically the way my attorney put it, 'You have a disclaimer and didn't post it so you are immune. They can go after the people who posted but not you. And even if they go after them the first amendment kicks in so long as they posted the truth."
Now granted the people who posted on my board didn't post personal info but none the less it left other upset and angry at me.
The moral of this story is very simple. The Internet and boards like this ARE NOT anonymous. They are anything but as a matter of fact. This is extremely important to remember if you are hoping to post on boards like this one and remain secretive.
My post isn't meant to deter anyone from posting. Nor am I stating any opinion on the first post or Roadies reply. I am simply trying, as a board owner myself, to "tell it like it is". Boards like this are wonderful places from which to learn and share info. But even if you use a name other than your own your info can still be tracked. Just remember this whenever you start typing a post and you will usually be ok....
