You know the profs, right? And students.
Ask them what they need (like, for instance, beverage runs for parties or other errands like that.) Research your population.
And make sure you can get the right data. Tell them, "a friend is thinking of starting this up and I'm not sure if he's crazy or not. What would YOU pay to have done for you? Or would you? And how much? And where do you think he should advertse so folks can see his ad?"
They'll tell you, for the sake of your "crazy friend."
I saw a guy driving around in a truck with a sign that probably got him business. It said "driver and truck for rent, $15/hour" and gave a phone number. If I'd needed that, I would have called him right then.
