I signed into one of these systems to learn a little more about what they were offering. The result... It started a flood of emails - LOTS of emails marketing products.
From the site I was checking out, the suggestions on how to use this included:
blocking or turning off your requests to receive the email "blasts"
In other words, the idea is to send your marketing email out to opt-in (which is what I did just to get into the site, apparently) lists. But if most everyone that is using the service is turning it off or blocking the avalanche of emails, then nobody is getting your message.
The good news:
When I contacted this particular company by email (I couldn't figure out how to "turn it off") and requested to be removed, not only did they remove me promptly, but sent a follow-up email a few days later to insure that I was no longer receiving the "e-blasts".
Summary:
In my opinion, Safelits marketing is not an effective means of getting to your target market. Don't waste your time and effort with "safelists". There are a lot of better methods of marketing such as:
Get listed in the search engines (Good website content, adwords, etc. will help to do this)
Submit articles to other peoples newletters of similar subject matter to generate opt-in leads
Post (participate, don't spam) in forums on subjects that are similar to your market
I'm sure others here on this forum can add to this list.
