I was looking through the paper and found a number of bankrupsy filings. I have a real hard time understanding how a couple can have $100,000 debt and have assets of over $400,000. I would think that a person could turn some of the assets into money and pay off the debts. My wife and I fall under the need to consider bankrupsy since I can not work do to my numerous ruptured disks of the back and peripheral neuropathy on unknown origin (I did spend alot of time outside the USA during my military carrer) and the wife having to quit working after her brain surgery for brain cancer. But we have put our heads together and figure we are going to try paying everything off. Everything that can be taken away from us has already been taken so it just leaves medical bills and they will have to just take what ever we can afford to give them. Anyway my feelings are that there are to many people taking advantage of bankrupsy and to many lawyers pushing for it since it is easy money for them that something needs to be done. Reading what is in the bill makes alot of sense but I also feel that there still needs to be language so the real need stays in place.
