OK, here's my OWN idea: local coupon books for fundraisers

Hi folks,
I have been plodding and planning for some time about an idea I have: contacting local businesses for a coupon book I put together and market to fundraising groups in my area. I know, I know, "The Entertainment Book" is the one everyone buys, but this is my gut feeling: the thing costs $40 a pop, (ouch to families with kids who never go to those hoity restaurants to begin with!) and, heck, why should they be the only "coupon book" show in town? The advertising space will be given away by myself FREE to the merchants in exchange for a 2-for-1 coupon, so I figure most merchants would jump at the chance to get some free press. Also, I asked myself, is there a need for this type of thing? Well, every scout, school, and church group in MY little one-horse town are always looking for good, viable ways to make some much-needed cash....... everyone I have talked to says that they are so very tired of the high-priced trinkets, candy, cookies, cheesecakes, candles, tupperware.......it seems that a coupon book full of "free" stuff (sold for about $10) would be a welcome change.

Folks, I LOVE this board and value your feedback...... and I would be very grateful for any suggestions you could throw my way.
