I run a website, such as it is, with an op-ed page that I occasionally update...it's a wee bit overdue for an update as I write this. I also have something of a blog, written under my "mjmsprt40" handle. I can't really say the blog/journal has impressed me a whole lot for journalism purposes. Maybe that's because the blogs I've been running into have been written by young folk who talk incessantly of taking too many sleeping pills and walking in front of cars as if they think that's a great idea.
Now, that's not to say I haven't run into a couple of worthwhile journalists on the blogs. It is to say it's not all that common, though. My own journalistic efforts have been sputtering and slow, mainly because I seem to write stuff everywhere else but my oped and journals.
Tim, if you're afraid Maamaw is going to bring down the blog by crass commercialism, well I'm very much afraid your fears are a bit overlate. Others have gotten in ahead of us all, and will post stuff on every wall that doesn't already have writing on it. MaaMaw mentions something much more destructive to Journalism As We Know It, and that's the fact that every amatuer with a digital camera can now regail us with endless photos of the latest exploits of their darling kitty. Yes, folks, this passes for journalism, and many journal/blogs exist for no other purpose than to display pictures and stories that are of interest only to the poster. (Full disclosure: My whole website is all about stuff that interests me-- if it interests you, too then so much the better. It exists nonetheless.) Is it all worth the server space it takes up? Each person viewing must judge that for him or herself.

Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures.
