Why Write a How-To Opportunity Guide When You Can Just Do The Activity?

Posted By: James Albert

Greetings,

Looking at all the interesting comments posted on this forum, I noticed one sentiment that comes up quite often. Not just here, but even out there in the every day world.

What is it?

The idea that the authors of the how-to-make-money guides should just do whatever it is they are writing about instead of pitching the how-to details to others for a few bucks.

For example, a few threads back, Mark states:

"I beleive if the person was making the type of money say they say, they would spend more time doing it than sharing with others or trying to sell it for $29.95."

I understand this. A lot of people feel this way. And for good reason. If the plan is so good, why not just continue doing it?

The answer is quite simple.

Because they can, in some cases, make a lot MORE money with less effort by "sharing it with others" than they could doing the original plan.

For example, here's an excerpt from an offline direct response mailing list data card--and there's plenty more of them where that comes from...

====================================
ACTION OPPORTUNITY BUYERS

UNIT OF SALE
$19.95 - $99.00

55,304 - 3rdQuarter 2004
54,080 - Quarter 2004
70,250 - 1st Quarter 2004
215,301 - 2003
210,121 - 2002
193,534 - 2001
99,003 - 2000

Buyers of money making opportunity plans, systems and books. They are interested in starting their own money - making enterprises without a large investment.
======================================

Now, I don't have any idea what the original activity was that this guy or gal is writing about, but it's obvious that "sharing it with others" is certainly making them some good money! Likely way more than the original activity.

Even using the lowest unit of sale of $19.95, it appears that the 3rd quater 2004 sales were at least $1,103,314.80! Cha-ching! And that was just the third quarter. If you add up the rest of the numbers it starts sounding unbelieveable.

But it is real. And that's why a lot of the markters that have figured out how to make money with some fully legitimate activity, eventually replace said activity with a how-to guide showing how they did it.

I mean...if you could make $45K a year helping single mothers fill out legal forms to get more child support, and $75K a year showing others how you did it, which one would YOU do?

Best regards,

James

NOTICE TO SCUMBEEZLES
(you know who you are... you scream "Foul!" when the truth comes out)
        PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT.  It has been done before, but never successfully.  In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
        If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace.
        NEWS FLASH:  I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday.  I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish.  I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?).  I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!"
        Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures.

        In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact.
        And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!).
