I was a Watkins rep for a time. I liked the company's long history and reputation for quality. Frankly, I still have a lot of the products that came with the initial kit, and subsequent qualifying orders. I suppose the opportunity was the wrong one for me, since my taste buds are easily satisfied by plain old condiments purchased at any grocery store. Watkins also manufactures other items besides condiments, but they never appealed to me either. Yes, they may be the "best", but when you have plain tastes, as I have, you aren't willing to pay much extra for the "best". Well, I do pay extra for the best of some things, but not when it comes to condiments and home care stuff.
Anyway, I guess I got away from the point I wanted to make. One of the aspects of network marketing that I didn't like was that the company could change the rules at any time. At any time they could cut the distributor out of the picture and go directly to the customers. Or they could simply keep them as an optional source. Metabolife did this, Avon does this, and now it seems Watkins will be doing this. I think this will mean the certain end to the individual distributor business. There is no doubt in my mind that Walmart will demand significant cost concessions from Watkins. It's the way Walmart does business. If a person has been introduced to Watkins products by an individual distributor, as soon as they find the same items at Walmart they will cut the individual out. Not only will it be less expensive to buy from Walmart, but it will be more convenient. Walmart may not carry the complete line in their stores, but they do have a web site, and they could highlight the other products there.
Honestly, Kelly, I feel bad for you because of this development, if it's true. Still, based upon your many postings I have a feeling about you, that you will land on your feed with something better.
