FIB - Scams 101 - Ye Olde Archives

Ooops.... just got back and saw my name being tossed about....

In Response To: Re: Alright Darnit... this does NOT add up. (Mel. White)

I very rarely disagree with anything Mel says, but in this case -- for myself personally -- I disagree. That is not to say my experience will be anyone else's experience, but it was definitely my experience (if I say "my experience" again I'm going to smack myself silly).

The problem -- for me (this is the last time I'll say that, but remember it, okay?) -- was trying to figure out what to do on the internet without having a CLUE...

= what "internet marketing" meant

= what should go on web sites to (a) attract people and (b) keep 'em there

= how to turn a content-based web site into a money-making web site, etc.

I was struggling to think of what kind of web site to build without understanding *any* of the basics of internet marketing. In my opinion, *that* is putting the cart before the horse, because none of my ideas made any sense.

The first time I read Corey's course, I tried to stay blank and just learn what I could (and in the process, I understood pretty fast why nothing I was doing was making money and why all my current ideas were doomed).

As I read it a second time and allowed myself to drift, the ideas that had been festering started to take shape. I was writing in my head as I read his course. I was thinking about my interests and how I could turn them into web sites. I was thinking of ways I could get people there (uh, here) -- and I was thinking of ways I could keep them here. I was thinking of things I could sell here. I was thinking of the products I could create myself (I know, I know, I don't *have* any of my own products, but that isn't because I don't have piles of viable ideas; it's because I was too busy to do anything with them).

Every single one of my ideas grew out of what I learned in Corey's course.

Stop here a second please....

I am NOT saying you can't learn a ton of what Corey teaches free on the internet (or by going to college and majoring in business like I believe Mel did). I'm saying he has put it all in step-by-step format for you and eliminated a humongous amount of researching and trial-and-error. That's what I wanted.

So I am most definitely NOT trying to imply that you have to buy his course to succeed. Okay? Okay.

Where was I??

Oh yes...

I said *every* single one of my ideas grew out of what I learned in Corey's course. And to this day -- seven years later -- every time I come up with something, or plan a change, or think about adding something, it circulates in my head right alongside what I learned from this course as I think WHY am I doing it, HOW will I do it, etc.

When I say, "You don't need an idea going in," I mean it sincerely. That should *not* translate to, "Buy Corey's course."

I had ideas.

They were worthless.

I came out with more ideas than I can possibly implement in my lifetime, even though I am doing this full time now.

Will it be the same for you or anyone else?

I don't have a clue. I know only that it worked for me and that if it doesn't work the same for you, he honors his guarantee and all you have to lose is the postage.

I realize that doesn't overcome the wife's objections, but it's all I've got, and I believe it 100 percent.

Luv,

MaaMaw

NOTICE TO SCUMBEEZLES
(you know who you are... you scream "Foul!" when the truth comes out)
PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT.  It has been done before, but never successfully.  In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace.
NEWS FLASH:  I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday.  I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish.  I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?).  I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!"
Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures.

By posting messages and/or content on the Friends In Business (Scams 101) Message Board, you give permission for Lesley Fountain/Friends In Business/Shoestring Success Publications to display, distribute and use the posting and content for publication, advertising, promotion, excerption or example.         In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact.
And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!).
