(sigh) No no no no no no no (you're a nice man, but your wife is right to roll her eyes!)
That's like running out and buying a lot and paying to have a building constructed on the lot BEFORE checking the zoning requirements (like is it commercially zoned) and BEFORE you decide what you'd like to sell at that location.

> a) Understand what Internet Marketing is
It's: Once you have a website and a product, learning how to market the product. This assumes that you don't have something that's being sold by six million (I"m not kidding) other people, and is in hot demand and for some reason couldn't be sold on Ebay.
> b) Understand how Corey's course applies to that
He takes you through a lot of the basic stuff that I learned a gazillion years ago when I took marketing courses in college (there's an index of what's in the course around here somewhere. )
> c) Explain to my wife that the product is not necessary *yet*
Well, you'd better explain it to me, too.
The marketing game is a continually moving target. You can learn all about it as it exists at one time and place, but by the time you have an actual product, it could be three years later and that old method could be very ineffective (like the "free for all board" advertising we saw mentioned around here somewhere. Bad, bad, bad idea.)

Now that we've got the merry go round stopped, let's look at a few questions:
* do you need a LITTLE extra, or a LOT extra (money)? If you need a LOT extra, then the way to do that is go back to school and get another degree (my salary DOUBLED (I just checked) with my last degree.)
* do you like to sell? (I loathe it. So does MaaMaw.)
* How much time do you have for the business?
If the answer to the last two are "not a whole lot" and "not a whole lot", then talk to a financial planner and do some investing. You will end up with a LOT more money in a year or two than if you'd thrown it all away on trying lots of other stuff.
(for the record, I am a writer and sell articles and fiction for right now and I also invest. So I've put my money where my mouth is.)

PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT. It has been done before, but never successfully. In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace. NEWS FLASH: I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday. I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish. I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?). I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!" Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures. Although we may, from time to time, monitor or review discussions, postings and the like on the Friends In Business (Scams 101) Message Board, we are under no obligation to do so. You are likewise prohibited from posting any false claims against any company or individual. If you cannot accept or agree with the terms of service for this website and discussion board, you are advised not to post on this board. In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact. And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!). |
