You're painting with a very broad brush. I happen to know dozens of people in a wide range of home-based businesses, that are earning good income from their efforts.
If you meant MLM's, you are still wrong. They are lots of legitimate MLM's where people have been earning good to excellent incomes for 20 years or more, including Watkins, Mary Kay, and many others.
If you meant bizopps in general, than you are still off the mark. I started my promotional advertising business from home over 20 years ago. It's been my full-time occupation since '87. I switched to K & B 12 years ago, and it's only gotten better. But, their are several national distributors who will allow independent agent/dealers to work from home.
If you meant home-based bizopps, than you are wrong there, as many companies sell francises for direct business to business sales of tools (Snap-On, Matco, and others), Little Debbie Foods, Colonial Foods, Archway Cookies, etc who move their products to the retails via franchise truck routes.
You might want to read Lesley's "Scams 101" on this site to get a better idea of where legitimate bizopps are being confused with outright scams, including the envelope stuffing, blind business info sales such as Herbalife, etc.
And, as many here will suggest, if something looks good to you, come and post the info and link here for free investigations and feedback from some who may have first hand info on the biz.
Best wishes for you finding a legitimate alternative to "Just another JOB".
