This is an excellent way to increase your referal business...especially in the day care industry since trust is the name of the game. If parents are happy with your service, they will want to share the news.
First, make sure that there is some type of photo/web release statement when the parents sign the day-care contract. This is standard when working with images of minors and your lawyers will see that it is done correctly.
Next, on your Web area (or online photo album) where the photos are displayed, include an "invite function". Most online Web photobooks have them. This allows all the happy relatives to send an email with a link directly to a certain page of the photos. On the footer of the email, you can add a "for more information" link, which allows propects to contact you. You can grow your email list this way, just remember to maintain and respect opt-out permissions.
I am very much in favor of partnerships and the tourism industry lives by them. Once you get your first local business under way, consider joining your local chamber of congress (or the similar in Canada), and network with as many tourism professionals as you can. Cultivate those relationships, and view them as long term. See if you can get referrals from local hotels and build a reputation...then try to move on to hotel chains. A great source of well qualied leads can come from the resort properties once you are a few years down the road and settled in Hawaii. One of the best treats of staying at a 4 Diamond property is knowing you can usually trust the advice of the concierge, or at least you are more encouraged to look into it.
