Hello Eric,
That's a tough situation you are in, and I most definitely would not run up the credit cards in an attempt to build a business -- UNLESS that expenditure was into a proven business / marketing method that has been proven to work in the past (i.e. direct response mailing) and will result in a profit. I would not put educational materials on a credit card if I were "in your boat".
If you want, please shoot me an email (my contact form is at http://www.TomBrownsword.com/contact) and I'll contact you "soon" about something I want to launch at the start of the year. Basically, it's a program where you only put up $25 to get started (and that money would go to purchase a domain name and website hosting for a year; I assume that you already have a computer and Internet access), then use any profits generated to reinvest back into your nascent business.
The only real "requirements" are some discipline and some writing ability (plus possibly the ability to research). From reading your post, you can write; I can't answer for the rest, though. If you want to know more, just hit me up via my contact form and I'll let you know more (the offer goes for anyone else on FIB, too).
This won't be a "been there, done that" type of thing -- I'll be experimenting right along with you -- so I must emphasize that there is some risk involved and "zero promises". Your $25 is a one-time expense (unless you decide to keep going for additional years) and if it doesn't work, you will have lost your time.
And no, I am not a guru, nor have I ever played one on TV or at an IM forum...
Best regards,
Tom
P.S. -- I also wanted to reiterate and clarify one thing: I like the way that Lisa Diane communicates to me. This is an important consideration when considering such purchases, and it was one of the deciding factors in my purchase. Others will have different opinions of her and decide not to purchase; that's great. There are lots of other "can't miss gurus" that I would never purchase from because I can't understand their sales letters and the thought of fighting my way through their materials terrorizes me! For others, it is their terms of service (BEWARE: Some of the so-called "gurus" are starting to get into the lead generation and selling business, and signing up for their newsletter may mean that you implicity allow this. Check their Terms of Service and Privacy Policy before you sign up!). One well-known ex-lawyer's terms are so one-sided that, in my uneducated opinion, you'd be a fool to even visit his website, much less purchase anything. But I digress... My point is that you should make sure that the "person", communication style, and above all, the content of what you are buying is the right fit for you.
P.P.S. -- For Patricia: somebody has to be that "one in a thousand", so why not me?!!! But your post is a good one and needs to be read.

PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT. It has been done before, but never successfully. In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace. NEWS FLASH: I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday. I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish. I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?). I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!" Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures. Although we may, from time to time, monitor or review discussions, postings and the like on the Friends In Business (Scams 101) Message Board, we are under no obligation to do so. You are likewise prohibited from posting any false claims against any company or individual. If you cannot accept or agree with the terms of service for this website and discussion board, you are advised not to post on this board. In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact. And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!). |
