Hi Bluto. Thanks for responding and offer of help. They do have a website. I first found them at www.healthcareeragents.com. There are several links from that page to pages for clients, candidates, be an owner, etc. After I inquired, they sent me the info packet and a couple of emails. One email included a link to what they refered to as "a confidential section of our website". Can I post that here? They sound like they're on the up and up. They describe what sounds like a thorough evaluation process, for both them and potential owner/operators. That includes a sample business plan, sample training session, and more, and they require meeting owners and being recommended by at least 3 owners. I have not met or spoken with anyone yet. I wanted to find out more about them first. I'm a sucker and not "tech savvy". They also offer a position as a sales consultant in which they train you and place you with an owner and when you make a placement, the fee is split between the consultant and owner, usually 50/50. There is no monetary investment required for consultant. Only time spent training and possibly travel expenses for on site training. What bothers me is that you have to sign a "very restrictive" contract preventing you from ever being an owner or starting your own business. Non-compete clause I guess. Why would they not want someone who has the experience and success as a consultant to become an owner? If I do go for it, it would have to be as a consultant because I don't have 35K, don't want to finance it and have another debt, and I doubt that I would risk it even if I had the money. What if I didn't like it or was not successful at it?--I'd be stuck. Though, I am looking at a course about federal grants---how to apply for and receive them. On the other hand, if I liked it and was successful at it, I would want to be an owner. I talked to my older sister today, who is also an RN. She is more specialized than I ever wanted to be and she has moved around the country for several jobs, utilizing a recruiter a few times. She says there are thousands of recruiters out there but hospitals and other facilities are using recruiters alot more now because of the shortage. She also said she gets contacted several times a week by recruiters and the ones who are nurses or former nurses are much better because "they get it". She thinks I should go for it (the consultant route). Sorry I'm so wordy. I didn't used to be such a talker. :)

PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT. It has been done before, but never successfully. In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace. NEWS FLASH: I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday. I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish. I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?). I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!" Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures. If you cannot accept or agree with the terms of service for this website and discussion board, you are advised not to post on this board. In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact. And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!). |
