Personally I use 000domains.com. I have a of names there (all my .coms).
They charge $13.50 for annual registration of com/net/org, which isn't the cheapest.
But they answer email very quickly and their control panel is superb and reliable.
Also they don't charge extra for registrar transfer lock (which the cheaper registrars generally do), which is an essential feature if you value your domains.
To transfer a domain to your account in 000domains (I have done this many times, as I moved many domains from opensrs to 000domains), do this:
Before you start:
A - Check the owner of the domain's admin email (in the WHOIS) is accessible, or get it updated to one that is.
B - Check the domain is available for transfer (usually it must have been registered for at least 30/60/90 days and not about to expire)
C - Check with the owner the domain is not transfer locked
1. Click the transfer button in the control panel at 000domains.
2. Enter the domain name you want to transfer
3. Emails will be sent to the current owner of the domain (hence A above), which contains a link for them to click to confirm they want to transfer. You may also get emails saying you want to accept the transfer, again with a link. These emails may come from the old registrar, the new registrar (000 domains), or both.
4. In the Transfer status page on the control panel you can see the progress of the transfer. It usually takes a few days for all the steps to complete.
At other registrar's the transfer process is generally broadly similar to the above, but exact details may vary.
