Something like this even happened a while back. Some marketer paid to have some articles or an ebook or web content (I can't remember right now) whipped up a la Elance.com or from some other similar outsourcing site like that.
Well, the programmer/writer totally stole what it was he sold to the marketer and the marketer got into a heap of legal trouble over it even though the marketer was totally unaware of the copyright infringements. The freelance is not able to be located but even if he was, the marketer would not be off the hook at all.
I would bet money that this is the same thing that happened with WLG. The originator of the software probably outsourced the making of the software and also the text that it generated by some foreign freelancer and didn't bother to check his work.
Well anyway, the point is that if you are getting anything made by a freelancer, like a script, web copy, an article or an ebook, it would be wise to try to make an effort to choose a reputable programmer/writer and not just base your decision on price. It could end up ruining you in the long run.
