I know this isn't a business question but could use some advice.
I was over to my Mothers house tonight and someone called, my mother took the call and I could tell it was a telemarketer or someone she did not know so I asked her for the phone. I asked who was calling and the guy said who is this? I was talking to Kay(mother). I said who is calling please. He said Kevin and put your mother back on. I said no she is busy, how can I help you. He replied Kay wasn't busy a minute ago so put her back on, all I need is 15 seconds more. I said what company are you with? he said no company. he said I will call back later and hung up. I stayed there a while and he didn't call back but I fear he will.
Parents do not have caller id so I tried *69 to find out caller number and report him but number was not available.
I am sure it was some kind of scam, my parents are elderly and I don't want them to be harassed with calls like this. What phone options can I get for them to block calls like this?

PS: I hate telemarketing and people that try and scam the elderly.
