(since there are so many places now where you can get your domain name for as low as $2.95)...
But I use AllWebCo to register every one of my domains. In the olden days when you had to pay $35 a year, they were dirt cheap. Now, they're on the expensive side but worth EVERY penny, as far as I'm concerned.
Your domain is too important to trust to just anybody.
Many's the time I've messed up -- let the renewal pass me by or forgotten to change my address or whatever -- and AllWebCo has come after me: "You didn't really want to let this one expire, did you?"
On the flip side, when I go crazy and register several then come to my senses later, I just send them a list and say, "Let these expire, please," and I know they'll be history when the expiration date rolls around.
Some people say don't register your domain names and host with the same company. I say "BULLCACA!" -- at least where AllWebCo is concerned. I wouldn't have it any other way. If your domain is elsewhere, they'll help you switch it -- AND IF YOU WANT TO MOVE YOUR DOMAIN FOR ANY REASON -- ****ANY**** REASON -- THEY'LL SAY "BYE BYE" WITH A SMILE AND WELCOME YOU BACK IF YOU REALIZE YOU MADE A BOO-BOO AND SHOW UP ON THEIR DOORSTEP SIX MONTHS LATER. They NEVER hold anyone hostage.
I've been with them for eight years -- since we both started -- and I wouldn't switch for anything.
I just registered six new domains, and I confess, for a fleeting moment I considered going the $2.95 route...
Then I woke up and smelled the cocoa.
Luv,
MaaMaw
P.S. I don't make a cent by telling you this. They haven't had an affiliate program for years, years, and years. I still use my old affiliate link because they process new accounts by hand -- (a big plus, as far as I'm concerned, because they "know" every one of their bzillion customers) --
What was I saying? Oh yes...
I still use my old affiliate link so they'll see it when the order comes through and they'll know I'm still referring people and appreciate them more than I can ever say.

PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT. It has been done before, but never successfully. In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace. NEWS FLASH: I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday. I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish. I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?). I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!" Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures. In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact. And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!). |
