Your above comment is what got me thinking about the whole idea really.
We goto our states fair almost every year.
And one setup there is what made me think about this whole concept of promotion rather than selling them at retail.
Every year that I have been there, they have a HUGE childrens playground set-up to promote the company and its products. The idea is to have the kids play and fall in love with them and want one for themselves. Well there are sales people there that don't do alot and are avoided by the parents waitingfor their kids to get done playing.
Now this is setup is designed to show the parents how much their kids would enjoy having one of these play systems at home.
So I thought why not give them a reason to talk to the salesman....
I could take a photo af their child having fun on the play set and the parents will have to wait and have no choice but to talk to the salesman while I finish makingtheir keychain.
I could make the process take 10 minutes (on the long side) if I had to.
SO really, the company would be paying me to coral the parents so they cannot walk away for 5-10 minutes.
How much is 10 minutes of your target markets undivided attention worth?
Alot more than the 50 cents in materials that it would cost me to make the keychain.
I haven't explored this as of yet because it is hard for me to get free for 11 days (length of state fair) to be able to do it for them.

The Badger football team has a HUGE following, and most beer distributors sponsor events for all home games, this could be a market to go after.
Thanks for the tip!
I would bet that a "border" with the beer company and the bar where they hold the event may even pay me to go to the surrounding parking lots with the tailgaters and try to get them into their event by giving them a photo and having them pick it up at the location.
You see this is what I am looking for, and everyone here can take it and run with it if they want.
Ideas are like a.......els ( ah you get it) They are nothing more than an idea.
Action is the key.
I have told several people that if I were interested in making money selling a how-to manual on business, it would contain very little.
In fact not enough for even an ebook really.
Here is my free advice to see if you are ready to start ANY business!
Go grab an ink pen or just a pencil.
Your mission is to go out, RIGHT NOW, and sell it to someone for $1.
If you are unwilling to do this, I don't care what excuse you make, you are not ready to start your own business!!
End of e-book!
Jason

PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT. It has been done before, but never successfully. In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace. NEWS FLASH: I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday. I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish. I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?). I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!" Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures. In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact. And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!). |
