Found a link from 1998 that the CoS (Church of Scientology) was booted off the campus of the University of Norway for pulling this trick.
"Representatives of the Church of Scientology were yesterday
expelled from the University campus after trying to recruit
students under cover of offering emplyment as proofreaders
Olav Eggeboe is one of the students who was tempted by the
promise of an hourly wage of 110 kroner ( around $14 ).
He thinks that the sect was trying to recruit new members.
The message seemed to be that we would do well in life if
we joined the movement, he says.

Important points in the Norwegian article include:
The scientologists were not expelled due to the
recruiting itself, but due to a ban on commercial buisness
at the campus.
People was not told about the scientology connection until they
started their work. They were just supposed to do some proofreading
for a translation firm "Samtekst". The leader of Samtekst
denies having anything to do with this. They had just translated
the book "Hva er scientologi", or "What is Scientology".
New Era Publications in Denmark would be doing the proofreading.
Each student who were doing had a scientologist as supervisor.
After 4 workhours they had to go through a test, supposedly
to find out if they were competent for doing their job.
The test sheet also contained information about CoS and
how lucky they would be if they joined. "
