I think it's because some people become gun-shy (paranoid, if you prefer) after they've been burned enough times. They automatically assume that anyone who is going to give them information is soon going to be in their face to buy something, then by MORE, then join their downline, then attend their $7,777 Boot Camp Rah Rah Rally.
It may be unreasonable, but I understand it.
I was stupid enough to lose almost $30,000. My biggest single loss was $8,600 and I collected over 650 other people who were scammed by the same company. Many, many of those people lost $15,000 to $25,000 in that same "opportunity," and one forked over $50,000. I also rubbed elbows with people who lost their homes and their marriages, and I heard one committed suicide but I was never able to verify that.
People get burned because they're too trusting.
I don't think you can blame them for going to the opposite extreme.
I confess, I didn't read the thread below until right now, but it sounds like all the news about "Steve and Sasha" is good.
My question:
Somebody said you mentioned on SowPub that you couldn't access this board. Are you in Australia or New Zealand? I apparently banned some countries without meaning to, and I'm hoping that is fixed.
In any case, I'm glad you got in and I hope you'll pull up a brownie and stay awhile.
