First of all, I do not know the exact relation ship between Quixtar and Amway except they are pretty much the same old BS.
However, seeing how you are looking to sell the product and that other woman was selling the product, maybe you should look into it further. If you can buy the product at a good wholesale price and resell it for a decent markup at $1.99 and you don't have to buy anything else from the company like training manuals every single month and there is no high yearly fees, I would suggest that you buy some cases and try your hand at selling the stuff. In other words, if they just let you buy the product at wholesale to sell at retail and you don;t have to put up with all that MLM crap, like recruiting, then I say take a stab at it.
Word of caution, though. Make sure you are getting a good wholesale price. Believe it or not, stores get terrible wholesale prices, especially on drinks. If a drink retails for $1.99 stores will generally pay in the area of $1.35 at wholesale. Certainly, that is no way to make money. There is no room for a good markup. The only way to make real money is volume and impulse purchases. For a $1.29, 20oz bottle of Pepsi, you are lucky to get a wholesale price of $0.90 - most smaller stores have to pay $1.08.
Personally, if you cannot get that $1.99 drink for $1 a can or less at wholesale I would not even bother.
And BTW, when a store is selling soda cheap, like 2 liter bottles for $0.99, they are not getting a better wholesale price. What's happening is that Pepsi (or Coke or whomever) is selling that soda to them at the regular wholesale price and the store loses money on each sale. You see, it is not the store that dictates selling the 2 liter at $0.99. It is the manufacturer that dictates that. It is for marketing and promotional purposes. What the manufacturer does, then, is send them a check to make up for the loss and a little more to pay for the ability to do the promotion in the store and the rent for the floor space (yes, that's right, manufacturers pay big bucks for shelf and floor space in grocery stores).

PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT. It has been done before, but never successfully. In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace. NEWS FLASH: I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday. I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish. I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?). I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!" Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures. In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact. And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!). |
