Hey Tracy,
The creator of SEO Elite basically pretty much admits that mastering the search engines isn't a realistic goal. By the time you master them they change their tactics again and you are at ground zero.
And so in order to give you the most bang for the buck the program basically tells you everything you can do to literally optimize your website. From changes the engine spiders seek all the way to what you can change in your html codes in order to give you an edge.
I made one very simple change in AuctionHints in the head portion of the html and in the aftermath saw an increase in traffic. It took about two weeks by the way. This was a change that took me less than 15 minutes.
As I said before I am NOT in any way, shape, or form affiliated with this program. I do not personally know the guy who created it. I found the program in the same way in which it is now being offered to you; someone on another board recommended it to me and because I respected his opinion I took a test drive, became sold (literally) and became a customer. It has now been about 2 months and the program has paid for itself and then some. (If I recall is was between $100 and 200 which includes all of the updates, instructions, etc)
The bottom line is simple. Barbara Ling, whom I hold in VERY high regard, actually told me not that long ago that even she was frustrated with the search engines because they changed so often. Barbara, for those who don't know her, is literally a master of online marketing and is the only person I have ever known on eBay who was able to use the SE to drive traffic to her auction ads time after time. Now if an expert like Barb cannot overcome the changes I don't believe that anyone can. On your subject, in other words, perhaps the optimization is not so much a matter of changing the content on your site but is instead changing some of the hidden things that the SE look at as they spider through them.
It is just a thought. And in any case....nothing but good luck to you!
